FEP LOWER ARM
What is it?
- Control arms (also called “A-arms”) are the core link connecting your front wheels to the car’s frame — one end attaches to the wheel assembly, the other to the car’s chassis
- The lower arm specifically connects to the lowest part of the front wheel assembly, while the upper arm connects to the uppermost part — both work together to keep the wheel aligned to the frame.
- FEP Lower Arm is designed as a direct-fit replacement part, supporting major car brands sold in Malaysia (Honda, Perodua, Proton, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Daihatsu, Naza).
Purpose / Function
- Holds the wheel firmly in place while allowing it to move up/down over bumps
- Maintains proper wheel alignment and geometry
- Absorbs and transfers steering and road shock loads
- Keeps tyres in constant, even contact with the road for stability and control
When to Change (Warning Signs)
- Clunking or knocking noise from the front, especially over bumps or rough roads
- Steering wheel vibration at speed
- Car pulling/wandering to one side while driving straight
- Uneven or premature tyre wear
- Visible cracks, rust, or torn rubber bushing on the arm
- High mileage — generally recommended to inspect from 100,000–120,000 km or after 5–6 years of use
- Frequent driving through potholes, flood-prone or rough roads (accelerates wear)
How to Change (General Steps)
- Hoist and support the vehicle safely; remove the front wheel
- Remove the ball joint / tie rod connection at the steering knuckle (if attached to the arm)
- Unbolt the lower arm from the subframe/chassis mounting points
- Detach the stabilizer link and bushing if connected to the arm
- Remove the old lower arm assembly
- Install the new FEP Lower Arm, torque all bolts to manufacturer spec
- Reconnect ball joint/tie rod and stabilizer link
- Reinstall wheel, lower vehicle
- Send for wheel alignment — this is essential after any lower arm replacement
⚠️ Recommended: Replace by a qualified mechanic — improper installation affects steering safety.
